I hope you all have your travel and lodging plans in place, and are excited about our 2019 biennial. The conference program will not be printed as a booklet as we have done in the past. Instead, we plan to save money and paper by asking conference-goers to download a pdf of the program and either print it or carry it on your computer or device. The final edition of the program is posted as of February 20th and includes important revisions to the meeting rooms at the Hotel Eugene, made to avoid noisy renovations that are beginning two days prior to our meeting. SEA Eugene 2019 program Final. Also, if you are arriving after 8:30 pm Wednesday and cannot pick up your registration packet, look in the opening pages for instructions on transportation between our two conference venues:
Two weeks before the conference begins, nearly one hundred people still had not registered for the conference. Please visit the registration site if you have not already. You will also find there an option to register for the Handspinning Workshop led by Heather Kopelson, and pay a fee to acquire your own spindle and yarn for this event, which is limited to twenty participants. University of Oregon presenters and chairs do not need to pay the registration fee unless they plan to attend the banquet dinner and luncheon, in which case a discount registration is appropriate. The registration page asks if you prefer vegan meals for our dinner and luncheon, but because those orders are due to the caterers ten days prior to the event, the vegan menu will be provided for a proportion of our guests, based on early returns.
As in the past, conference participants should be sure to join or renew their membership, using our payment platform at the University of North Carolina Press, publisher of the Early American Literature journal.
When you arrive in Eugene, registration packets will be available at the Hotel Eugene on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 pm, and then at the EMU on campus beginning at 8:30 Thursday morning. A shuttle bus will run from the south side of Hilton leaving for its first run at 8 am. The registration and information table will return to the Hotel Eugene on Friday morning at 8:30, for those who may be arriving late on Thursday.
Safe and pleasant travels to you all, you will enjoy visiting Oregon.
