| Wednesday, 4 March: Transportation between the Hamilton Princess Hotel and St George’s. Bus transportation to St George’s: those with last names beginning with the letters A through H: 9:00 am departure from the lobby of the Hamilton Princess; for those with last names beginning with the letters I through Z: 10:15 departure, also from the lobby of the Hamilton Princess. Each bus will be met by a guide for a tour of St George’s. At 1 pm, Michael Jarvis will introduce a presentation by Lorri Glover on the Sea Venture (ending by 2:30). The returning buses (leaving St George’s at 2:45 and 4:00) will stop at Orange Valley, an 1802 house not normally open to the public. It is owned and occupied by a 6th-generation descendant of the first owner. *Walking Tour of St. George’s available *Presentation entitled “A Shipwrecked Founding: Bermuda and the English Atlantic” by Dr. Lorri Glover, Professor of History at the University of Tennessee and author (with Daniel Blake Smith) of The Shipwreck that Saved Jamestown: The Sea Venture Castaways and the Fate of America (New York: Henry Holt Publishers, 2008). Panel hosted by Dr. Michael Jarvis, Associate Professor of History, University of Rochester. | Friday, 6 March: Ferry Boat transportation provided from Fairmont Princess Hotel Dock to and from the Bermuda Maritime Museum at the Royal Naval Dockyard for a reception in the Commandant’s House and time to tour the exhibits, 5:00-7:30 pm. |
